Betsy Ross House

Explore the home of America’s most famous flagmaker, Betsy Ross, located just blocks from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell Center.

The well-known and beloved story of Betsy sewing the first Stars & Stripes is tightly woven into the colorful fabric of America's rich history. 

The Betsy Ross House is preserved as museum and the birthplace of the American flag, alive with the sights and sounds of the 18th century. Take an audio tour and learn about her many contributions to the American Revolution, and her exciting life and times through interactive, historical programming.

New holiday programming is planned for the courtyard outside of the Betsy Ross House this year:

  • Historic Holiday Nights in Old City, Thursday, November 30 - December 28: Visitors can enjoy $1 off admission at the Betsy Ross House, which will offer extended hours until 8:00 p.m.

    Enjoy live jazz by Currier Kruczek: The DialogueMélange Jazz CollectiveV. Shayne Frederick, Jupiter Blue, and others, and check out the new Old City District Design Tree, an artistic lighting installation designed by FK Productions.

    Fezziwig’s Sweet Shoppe will offer seasonal sips and snacks, including their famous kettle korn. There will also be cider sampling by Austin EastCiders for those 21 years of age or older.

Tickets are available for sale online or at the Independence Visitor Center.
